The French Kisses

Recently, my husband asked me:"Do you dream in Chinese or in English now?" I puzzled, and replied:"I just had a dream in French couple nights ago." He looked at me:"Good! Meaning you are in it." Said he. Referring to my French lessons.
I'm not so sure about it. In the process of learning a new language, I often hear my Brian sounds twittering, but when I speak, my voice twisted. I can't say a word when the teacher asks a question. As if the words just freeze in my tongue.
People always say:To learn a new language is also to learn its culture, history and to know the people. Maybe I don't know the French people well enough? Or they are too "sophisticated" to understand? Like the language?
